Rhea County Adult Literacy Council is a local 501C3 non-profit group that supports the Rhea County Office of Adult Education. Our local AE program is part of the workforce Innovations and Opportunity Act, (WIOA), providing services to residents aged 18+ to build the knowledge and skills necessary to earn a high school equivalence diploma. They also teach employment skills, offer post-secondary opportunities to insure economic self sustainability, at no cost to the participants. RCALC offers funding for transportation, child care, graduation ceremonies, and test fees not covered by state and Federal funds. AE also offers English communication classes for those who wish to improve their speaking, writing and reading English. Our AE program holds classes in the Rhea Justice Center to assist with lowering recidivism. Finally, AE offers on the job or precursor job training to local employers. There are no charges for any of these services.
